NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS: 

On October 18th from 4-6 pm, National Honor Society is hosting Trail for a Cause to support the teal pumpkin project to help make Halloween safe for kids with food allergies. For this event, we are asking the various clubs, programs, and sports throughout McDowell to help attend the event and contribute by setting up a table and passing out items for little children. If you are a part of any clubs that you think would be interested in participating or volunteering at the event, please contact Dayana Rojas at 143875@mtsd.org. Service hours are offered for those who volunteer. We hope to see you there! 


Students that turned in their permission slip for the MFG(Manufacturing) Day field trip for Wednesday October 7th should report to the main entrance of McDowell South at 7:55am that morning. The bus will leave at 8:00am so don't be late!


Attention Students! McDowell International Club is having their first meeting on Thursday, October 8th, in Ms.Lehman's room, room 123! International Club will be hosting fun competitions, games, potlucks, cultural activities, snacks, prizes and much more. Everyone is welcome, so if this interests you, make sure to grab a friend and come join us at our first meeting this Thursday in room #123!!


Today will be the first Table Tennis meeting of the year! You will receive an email pass to come today during tutorial if you have joined the Google Classroom. You will need to report to your tutorial and show this pass to your tutorial teacher first before coming to the Table Tennis meeting. We will meet in the hallway outside of the McDowell North Gym on the Ladies Locker room side. Any questions, please direct them to Mr. Fleming at fleming@mtsd.org. We hope to see you there!


Good morning, McDowell, and HAPPY HOMECOMING WEEK! We hope you’re ready for an exciting week! Don’t forget to show your school spirit and participate in Spirit Week! Today, we want to see you repping your favorite sports teams, and tomorrow, let’s go WILD with your best animal prints and patterns! Haven’t bought your Homecoming dance tickets yet? There’s still time! Tickets are on sale for $20 on Infinite Campus through Wednesday. If you prefer to pay with cash, tickets will also be available Thursday and Friday in Room 6-203 at McDowell North. Get your guest forms in! All NEW this year, we’re bringing even more fun to Homecoming! Come hungry for dessert because we’ll have the waffle food truck, Kona Ice, AND a smoothie truck outside at the dance! You won’t want to miss an amazing night filled with friends, dancing, games, and delicious treats! Lastly, Seniors keep voting for your King and Queen!

SPORTS ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Girls varsity soccer hosts Franklin Area High School in a 4:00 home game tonight. Girls varsity tennis plays Erie High at 4:00 on the Hanlon Courts. And boys soccer takes on Cathedral Prep in home games. JV starts at 6:00 and varsity at 7:30.

Attention Key Club members. There will be a Key Club meeting on Tuesday, October 6th in the Humanities Commons during tutorial. Please bring old t-shirts or spare cloth to complete our project. We look forward to seeing you!


Do you ever feel like there are not enough labs in your science class? Or you wonder what would happen if you could change something about a lab you completed? Then PJAS is for you. If you are interested in completing an individual experiment and presenting your findings please come to an informational meeting to find more about PJAS. Through this competition you will have the opportunity to win awards and cash prizes. So get those scientific minds working and meet us in the McDowell North Library on Monday October 5 during tutorial. Email Mr. Burruss or Mrs. Allaman for more information.

 

McDowell South High School is hosting a voter registration drive from October 5–9! Seniors, check one more thing off your to-do list and register to vote! There will be tables set up in the Hub during tutorial and during all McDowell South Lunches. You will only need a valid ID or your Social Security number to register. Take the first step toward making your voice heard-register to vote!
