NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS: 

Attention 11th and 12th graders. The military is entitled to request your name, address, and telephone number. If you do not wish your information to be released to the military, please stop by the main office in either building and pick up an opt out form. Forms are due back to the offices by October 1.

Are you interested in Psychology? Then you definitely want to check out the Psychological Science Association. Come to our first meeting on Thursday, September 24, during tutorial at McDowell South. Mrs. Gibson's room, 111, right across from the Hub. We have plenty of fun activities, snacks, and community service opportunities! Psych is fun! Learn more! 

Day 2 of Deaf Awareness Week, Interesting Fact: According to federal statistics, at least 600,000 Americans have hearing loss that qualifies them for inclusion in the Deaf community. This community often faces unique challenges regarding education, access to healthcare and public services, employment, and more. Deaf Awareness Month draws attention to these issues as well as to the culture of the Deaf community and the various forms of sign language and other types of communication they use.

Attention all AFJROTC cadets - both semesters - there is a mandatory meeting today, Tuesday Sept 22nd, during tutorial. Go directly from 2nd block to ROTC. Attendance will be taken there.

Those students applying to be Election day poll workers, your applications are due TOMORROW to Ms. Lehman in room 123. Be sure to get these in otherwise you will not be eligible to work Election Day. Any issues email or see Ms. Lehman ASAP!!

Have you been wondering about homecoming tickets? They go on sale tomorrow in your infinite campus account under school store. Buy them before 10/7. Are you bringing someone that doesn't go here? Guest forms will be available in the main office at both buildings and on the MTSD website.

SPORTS ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Boys soccer is hosting Harbor Creek High School tonight in home games. Varsity starts at 6:00 and JV at 7:30. Girls volleyball travels to Meadville Area High School with JV starting at 6:00 and Varsity at 7:15.

Fall Softball practices will be held at Hanlon Park Softball Field starting Wednesday 5:30pm-7pm thru the end of October weather permitting.

GUIDANCE ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Attention all college bound 11th and 12th grade students: Representatives from the following schools will be meeting with students in the McDowell South HUB next week: Allegheny College, Penn West University in California, Washington and Lee University, Thiel College, Erie County Community College, Point Park University, and the University of Rochester. If you are interested in learning more about any of these schools, you must sign up in Naviance in order to get a pass to attend!! Just click on "Colleges", then "Visits." The McDowell Academic Decathlon Wants you! If you love to learn, compete, and make friends from all across the state this activity is for you. We will be holding a new member meeting Monday during tutorial in room 2207. You may also join us Tuesday after school in room 2207 as well to learn more and join this amazing team!

ATTENTION, STUDENTS! Want to have a voice in your school and help make a difference? Applications are now open for the McDowell Student Advisory Council! The Student Advisory Council gives students the opportunity to: Share ideas and provide input. Discuss school policies and decisions with administration. Help improve the student experience at McDowell. Build leadership skills. The application link has been sent to your McDowell email. If you are interested in being part of the council, please complete the application by Thursday, September 24th, at 3:00 p.m. We want to hear from you! Apply today!

Hello everyone! Interested in joining ESL Club? ESL Club is for everyone who wants to have a safe space to practice their English Language skills and talk with students who are learning English. This will be a safe, fun, and creative space for everyone, both ESL students and already English-speaking students. We can all help each other out. This club will happen twice a week - on Mondays (in Ms. Maguire's room at 2-210) and Thursdays (in Ms. Kopay's room at 4-102) during Tutorial. Note for teachers - I will create laminated passes for the students to use each week. This first meeting, starting Monday, September 21, in Room 2-210, please allow the students to come down. Come and join ESL Club!

Attention, student drivers: Parking permits are required for all vehicles parked on campus. Starting today, September 21, vehicles without a valid parking permit will be ticketed and subject to a fine. Parking permits can be purchased through the School Store on your Student Infinite Campus account. Have questions or need assistance purchasing a permit? FROZEN AUDITIONS ARE HERE! Auditions for McDowell CPA’s full Broadway production of Frozen the Musical will be held Monday, September 21, and Tuesday, September 22, beginning at 3:45 P.M. in the MIHS Chorus Room. Everything you need to know about auditions—including requirements and materials—is posted in the CPA Google Classroom. Make sure you check it out BEFORE audition day! Whether you’re hoping to be onstage, looking for your next big role, or just ready to jump into the magic of Arendelle, we want to see you there! Questions? Stop by Room 6-105 and see Mr. Johnson. Want to get better at public speaking, meet new people, and maybe travel around the country? If so, join Speech and Debate where you have the opportunity to compete at tournaments at places like Harvard and Yale. No experience is required to join, so if you want to elevate your college application, build confidence, and have fun, come to the first meeting on Tuesdays or Thursdays in room 2-208 from 2:40 to 4:00.
