Attention 11th and 12th graders. The military is entitled to request your name, address, and telephone number. If you do not wish your information released to the military, please stop by the main office in either building and pick up an opt out form. Forms are due back to the offices by October 1.
The McDowell Academic Decathlon Wants you! If you love to learn, compete, and make friends from all across the state this activity is for you. We will be holding a new members meeting Monday during tutorial in room 2207. You may also join us Tuesday after school in room 2207 as well to learn more and joint this amazing team!
Attention Students! Do you like flowers and gardening? Do you like creating fun crafts? If you do, McDowell Garden Club is an activity you want to check out. This club is a great opportunity to gain service hours and fill in requirements for the STEM Certificate, all while having fun! Our first meeting is today at McDowell North in room 4-210 during tutorial. If you have any questions, please see or contact Mrs. Allaman (allaman@mtsd.org).
Attention Aquatics II students who are attending the Lettie G. Howard boating trip today: We are meeting on the pool deck at 10:45 to load on the bus as soon as possible. Bring only a light jacket, your lunch, and your sea legs!

GUIDANCE ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Attention all college bound 11th and 12th grade students: Representatives from the following schools will be meeting with students in the McDowell South HUB next week: Allegheny College, Penn West University in California, Washington and Lee University, Thiel College, Erie County Community College, Point Park University, and the University of Rochester. If you are interested in learning more about any of these schools, you must sign up in Naviance in order to get a pass to attend!! Just click on "Colleges", then "Visits." Any questions, please see Mrs. Gilroy.
SPORTS ANNOUNCEMENTS:
It will be an amazing weekend for your Trojan Sport’s Teams! Girls varsity tennis heads to Nichols for a 4:00 match. Boys soccer is playing Cathedral Prep tonight at Gus Anderson Field. JV starts at 6:00 and varsity at 7:30. Boys and girls varsity water polo will be playing in the Calvin Behm Tournament today and Saturday at the Hagerty Family Events Center. On Saturday, girls varsity volleyball heads to
Meadville for a 8:30AM away game. Boys and girls cross country travel to Big Springs PA to participate in the Ben Bloser Bulldog Cross Country Invitational. Boys JV football plays an away game against Erie High at 10:00AM at Erie Veterans Stadium. And your Trojan Marching Band is hosting schools at our McDowell Marching Band Invitational. Opening ceremonies start at 5:00. Good luck to all of our student athletes!

👑 Attention Seniors: Homecoming Court Nominations Are Now Open! It’s time to nominate the classmates who best represent the spirit and high standards of McDowell High School for this year's Homecoming Court! Before you cast your vote, please review the critical guidelines below: Voting Rules & Instructions Only current 12th-grade students (1 submission per senior). Every senior may nominate 2 seniors for Homecoming Court. You are nominating individuals, not couples. Strict Campaigning Policy It is not appropriate to ask other for votes or run as a couple—a deserving court member does not need to ask for votes. Any paper flyers or electronic posts brought to administration's attention will result in immediate disqualification. Note: McDowell High School Administration has final approval of the Homecoming Court and reserves the right to remove any candidate who does not exemplify the highest standards of our school. ⏰ Deadline: Round 1 voting closes strictly at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 18th. Don't wait—get your nominations in!

Are you interested in fashion sustainability? Would you like to try your hand at repurposing an article of clothing? If you said yes, then stop by room 4-206 on Friday, September 18th to check out the Leather and Lace Initiative. We will be discussing our activities for the year.
Attention students! Put cash in your bank account, rack up community service hours, and stack your college resume—all in a single day. The Erie County Student Poll Worker Program is looking for 17-year-olds to step up and help manage polling sites on Election Day. You will get paid to assist voters and keep things running smoothly, and zero prior experience is required. To qualify, you must: Be 17 years of age or older Be in good academic standing Be a U.S. citizen and Erie County resident for at least 30 days prior to the election Stop hitting snooze on your resume— see Ms. Lehman in room 123 to grab an application and secure your spot! Applications are due back to her by September 23rd!
McDowell Students, for the 2026-2027 school year, we will be introducing the Peer Review Club, an outlet designed to provide students with assistance for their English Language written work. We will meet Tuesdays, but we do offer support outside of weekly meetings. Ask your English teacher or email 145187@mtsd.org to sign up and get English support.
Attention Swifties! Our first meeting of the year will be held this Friday, September 18th during tutorial in room 2-202 (McD North). Stop by for an "Enchanted" time as we step into the world of Speak Now! There will be Taylor-themed activities, crafts, and plenty of opportunities to celebrate one of the most iconic eras.
