MHS Announcements 09/08/2026

NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS: 

Swim club will start this Thursday. All students are welcome. Come with your own swim gear and be on time. Swim club runs every Thursday during tutorial. Please see Mrs. Keim or Mr. Lombardo for a swim club pass.

There will be a Lead and Seed Club meeting on Thursday September 10th in the MIHS Humanities Commons during the Tutorial. We are a Community Service Organization. And we welcome new members to our Club.

Want to get better at public speaking, meet new people, and maybe travel around the country? If so, join Speech and Debate where you have the opportunity to compete at tournaments at places like Harvard and Yale. No experience is required to join, so if you want to elevate your college application, build confidence, and have fun, come to the first meeting on Tuesday September 8th, in room 2-208 from 2:40 to 4:00. GUIDANCE ANNOUNCEMENTS:

If you are interested in visiting Gannon University on September 16th or Slippery Rock University on September 23rd, please see Mrs. Gilroy for the permission slip. Both trips will include an admissions presentation, student panel, campus tour, and lunch. Minimum GPA of 3.0 is required to attend. Space is limited, so sign up today.

SPORTS ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Girls varsity tennis has home matches tonight against Fairview at 6:00, boys varsity water polo travels to Cathedral Prep for a 6:00 game and boys varsity soccer heads to Oil City Senior High School for a 6:30 game.

REPEAT ANNOUNCEMENTS:

McDowell CPA 2026–27 Theater Season Announcement! The McDowell CPA will be announcing our 2026–27 theatrical season, along with audition information, on Tuesday, September 8, during Tutorial in the Little Theater! Anyone interested in auditioning, working on stage/tech crew, or playing in the orchestra should attend! Whether you want to be onstage, backstage, or in the pit, we want to see you there! We can’t wait to see everyone! Teachers: Students will not have individual passes to attend this meeting. Please mark them as present and then allow them to head to the Theater. See Mr. Johnson with any questions!

Attention 9th and 10th grade students:  Starting Tuesday September 8th, after school help will be offered in the McDowell North Library.  Every Tuesday and Thursday is Math help, and every Wednesday is Bonus Study hall for help in any subject. Students can also stay on Wednesdays after school just to complete work, make up a test, or use library resources.
