Theatre prep classes are offered at McDowell including Performing Arts 1, 2, 3, & 4 which instruct students the basics of creating, directing, and producing a musical from start to finish. Students are also recommended to audition and participate in the musicals produced at MIHS. These are extracurricular and take place after school hours. Students can be involved in multiple ways whether it be performing on stage, technical theatre, or the live musicians.

If singing is more your niche there is no lack of choral activities at MHS. Classes include Mixed Chorus 9-10 and Mixed Chorus 11-12 depending on grade level. These classes are performance groups. You may also audition to enter the Vocal Ensemble, a higher level singing group that also performs and has the chance to compete in PMEA.
